Image

Images can be added to nearly all sections of your website. .jpeg, .png or .gif file types are the best image formats to use on your website. To add an image, click on either the item or the section introduction of the page you want the image to appear on and then click the Image link on the left side of the page.

• Image alignment - How you would like the images to display.
  • Alternating - The first image will display on the left, the second image will go to the right, the third image will go back to the left and so on.
  • Right - All the images will display down the right side of the section.
  • Left - All the images will display down the left site of the section.
• Browse - Clicking browse will bring up a directory of your drives (hard drive or disk). Find the image you want and click on it, then select Open. The path of where the image is located will be placed in the field next to the browse button. Click on the Upload button.;
  
  

The image will display with the original image dimensions below. If the dimensions of the image is something like 2000 x 2000, the image is too large. All images should be re-sized in a photo editor before they are uploaded to the website. A good dimension for a large image would be 500 in width and what ever the photo editor defaults to for the height.

After the upload is completed the follow options will be available:

• Title - Will be read by a screen reader (used by visually impaired persons) if there is no Caption and is a required field.
• Caption - Will display just below the image. This could be a description of the image or can be left blank.
• Link- A link can be added to an image.
  
  • Link Type- Choose one of the options.
    
    • http: - Part of a website address and is a request/response protocol between clients and servers. Use for typical links (such as another city, Chamber of Commerce website, etc.).
    • https: - Refers to the combination of a normal HTTP interaction over an encrypted Transport Layer Security (SSL). Use for sites that require a secure connection.
  • Link - The address (URL) of the website you wish to link to.
  • Intermediate Page - This option allows you to show a page stating that the visitor is leaving your website. Can be used when you link to a different website. Do not use if you are linking to another page on your own website.
  • Target - Choose one of the options.
    
    • New Browser Window means the new website will open in a new window so if the visitor closed the new website your website is still available for them to view.
    • Inline Window means the new website will open over yours so if a visitor closes the browser window they will also close your website.
• Dimensions - An image can be made larger or smaller by selecting one of the dimensions options available.This should not replace resizing images before uploading.
