Section Shortcuts (aka Friendly URLs)

Section Shortcuts (also known as Friendly URLs and formerly known as Shortcuts) give you the ability to create shorter Web addresses* that are easy for site visitors and search engines to understand.

  • Friendly URLs can be created for any section or subsection of your site. Exception being the "Home" page. This is the first page (section) listed on your site tree.
  • Friendly URLs are reusable, but they are restricted to one section. This means that two sections on your website cannot use the same Friendly URL.
  • Friendly URLs are integrated with the navigation menu and remain persistent throughout the entire website.
  • An unlimited number Friendly URLs are available per site.
  • Friendly URL names (Section Shortcuts) can only contain letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens with maximum length of 50 characters and no spaces. Some words such as admin, images, and js are reserved and cannot be used.  Using hyphens in your Friendly URLs (ie council-agendas instead of councilagendas or council_agendas) is important to increase your SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
